Oranssi ry is a non-profit association whose purpose is to enable cultural and civic activities for young people. Oranssi’s current premises are located in Suvilahti.
Oranssi Suvilahti Cultural Center strives to be a safer space where all kinds of people feel welcome. The cultural center has two halls measuring 180 m² and 64 m², as well as accessible and gender-neutral toilets and a small kitchen.
Oranssi mainly provides facilities and equipment for use by event organizers. In addition, Oranssi’s employees can provide information and support for organizing activities as needed and as possible.
The use and possible rental of Oranssi’s facilities is always agreed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the activity and the organizer’s ability to pay. Lack of means is therefore not an obstacle to organizing activities at Oranssi. The premises are also rented out to some extent for other activities, such as private and corporate events, in which case it is clearly a matter of fundraising for Oranssi’s actual activities.
The premises enable a wide range of activities. Oranssi has organized workshops, yoga classes, study circles, circus training, theater performances, and concert evenings, among other things. Oranssi primarily offers facilities for activities organized by young people themselves or aimed at young people, but it is also possible to organize events or activities aimed at a wider audience!
All activities must be substance-free. Activity organizers are expected to commit to the cultural center’s goal of being a safer space. This means, for example, that discrimination is not accepted in any activities.
